March 25, 2009 This is Pete Checchia, welcome to my online newsletter. Proximity Gallery and DeMelas/Checchia are happy to announce a closing party on the last day of our exhibit - Saturday March 28th from 1pm - 4pm. We will be serving refreshments and we welcome families and kids! We received the Philadelphia Weekly's Editor's Pick at the beginning of March and are proud of Tara Murtha's preview/review of the work. streettalking.com did a nice video piece on Proximity Gallery and our collaboration. A slideshow of the work can be seen on my website, petesart.com As much as we like to share our art with our community online the work of course is more comprehensible in person. So you have until the end of the month to see it! Feel free to email me (pete@petesart.com) or Janel Frey at Proximity (janel@proximityart.com) to make special arrangements or come see it during gallery hours on the final Friday and Saturday of the month from 1 - 4. Part of what makes the work difficult to comprehend when not seeing it in person is the layered process in which the work has been created and is displayed. To explain quickly: in order to make the work we take paintings and printed photographs, lay them side by side and double expose them in the camera creating digital images. Some of these newly created double exposed images are selected and printed as limited edition prints and others are printed and then painted on and are exhibited as one of a kind images. |
